Luckily, sleep apnea is treatable, with treatment usually combining lifestyle changes such as losing weight and quitting alcohol and smoking, to wearing a nighttime mask called “ continuous positive pressure device” (CPAP) which keeps your airway open while you sleep. Other risk factors are hereditary, such as a naturally thicker neck, narrower throat, being male, being older, and a family history of sleep apnea. The use of alcohol, smoking, and nasal congestion can all constrict your breathing as well. The primary risk factor is obesity since fat deposits around the throat can press down on your upper airways and constrict normal breathing. There are several factors that can cause sleep apnea in adults. Sleep apnea patients are more likely to have strokes, brain damage, heart attacks, as well as diabetes type 2. Leaving sleep apnea untreated can result in restricted oxygen flow to the brain, heart, and other vital organs, potentially hindering their function throughout the years. Most people who have sleep apnea are aware that while it may not be a dangerous condition in the short run, it carries a lot of dangers in the long run. People who suffer from apnea can wheeze and have difficulties breathing periodically through the night. Obstructive sleep apnea is a condition that causes the muscles in the back of your throat to relax temporarily, causing your tongue and soft palate to constrict your airflow, and resulting in obstruction of sleep.

Our teens and young adults excelled in leading our campers. In 2023, we will fully launch this camp with a 6-week well-rounded schedule hosted at Gann Academy in Waltham, MA. Forty-five campers had a sensational time during the one-week pilot. The strong enrollment and dynamic programming at both camps paved the way for the launch of the Boston Day Camp. And the return of the Zimkudiyah (song and dance festival) let campers learn new songs and dances to celebrate Ahavat HaAdamah (loving the earth). Some chugim were even conducted in Hebrew! Har Ramah (Ramah mountain), the new climbing tower, spurred campers to take on new and unexpected challenges. With several additional top-notch staff members, campers had more ways to delve into the arts, deepen their connection to our natural world, and acquire new sports skills, including pickleball! And a gorgeous new Biytan (pavilion), funded by Kimby and Lawrence Berger, provided a fantastic new location for camper activities, from tefilot through peulat erev (evening activity).Īt our DC Day Camp, with the return of chugim (electives), campers had more opportunities to choose activities to match their interests, expand their horizons and reinforce their skill sets. Additions to our Palmer and DC sites also enhanced our campers’ experiences.Īt our overnight camp, our program again reached high levels with the return of Yom Roo, swim lessons and Kishroniyah, a one-week program of workshops for our older campers. Our camps returned to full enrollment, with richer programs that permeated every aspect of camp life. While 2021 was a summer of happiness and healing for our campers and staff, we recognized the need to rebuild many of our programs – and with this, to teach and reinforce skills that had atrophied early in the pandemic. Our campers also benefited from wonderful new additions to our sites. The next step for AstraZeneca is to have its vaccine approved by regulators. The vaccine still needs to be approved by regulatory authorities So far, no serious safety concerns have emerged from the clinical trials, which were conducted with over 23,000 people. That said, these interim results are in line with a peer-reviewed study published in medical journal Lancet last week, which found that the AstraZeneca vaccine bolstered the immune response to Covid-19 in older adults, who are most at risk of developing severe versions of the disease. More study will be needed to answer this question. The third possibility is that the larger initial dose may be causing the body to develop antibodies against the vaccine itself, blunting the impact of the booster shot. The second possibility is that the smaller initial dose may stimulate “memory cells” in the immune system, priming the body to produce antibodies in greater quantities when the second dose is administered. First is that the difference may just be a statistical artifact - a consequence of the fact that this is an interim data analysis, and that once the final results are in the difference may be smaller. It’s not entirely clear why the smaller initial dose produces better results, though scientists in the field have suggested several ideas. Paradoxically, the second group, which had the larger initial dose, showed that the vaccine was only about 62% effective. In the first group, the interim data analysis found that the vaccine was about 90% effective at preventing Covid-19. In the second group, patients were given the same dose both initially and as a booster one month later. In one group, patients were given a smaller initial dose of the vaccine (or placebo), then a larger dose as a booster one month later. The preliminary data released on Monday studied two different ways to administer the vaccine. Preliminary results suggest that this adenovirus vaccine can be effective Pro Wholesaler VIP Program is an online real estate investing program.
